Our Mother Daughter Tea

The Tea is a time honored tradition in National Charity League, Inc. It affords us the opportunity to impart to our daughters the importance of taking time out of our fast paced lives to enjoy a leisurely afternoon with friends. Ticktockers learning hostess skills, as well as how to be a proper and appreciative guest, make the NCL Tea requirement an important event for all chapters. From addressing envelopes, writing formal RSVP’s, making proper introductions in a receiving line, to preparing and serving food and mingling with other guests, we are teaching our daughters to be gracious young women.

How our Tea Works

Our Chapter has each Ticktocker Class participate in the Tea planning and execution.  They learn addressing invitations, building centerpieces, setting a table, coordinating logistics and timelines, and a wide variety of other tasks a hostess will perform.  At the Tea, the Ninth grade Ticktockers are presented with an apron and serve our chapter as the Hostesses and Pourers.

We have a Philanthropy Focus which gives the Members an opportunity to give back to the community.

Our Leadership hosts and leads the meeting and Tea.

The cultural significance for the Patroness and Ticktocker is a unique chance to participate in a long standing tradition.

“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” — Henry James
