Our Chapter History

NCL, Inc., Space City Chapter History

In the fall of 2012, five different women who had never met before were put in touch with each other through the National Charity League, Inc. headquarters office to gauge interest in creating a chapter in this area. The five ladies met at a local restaurant, felt the synergy and timing was right, and instantly began making plans to start a chapter that spans four school districts – Clear Creek ISD, Dickinson ISD, Friendswood ISD, and Pearland ISD.

After many informational meetings and a lot of tireless efforts, the chapter acquired the needed 25 Patronesses (mothers) to form as a non-profit expansion chapter, ultimately forming during the annual NCL, Inc. conference in April 2013.   Along with their Ticktockers (daughters), 54 NCL, Inc., Space City Chapter members began serving philanthropy partners in the communities our chapter serves – a unique area defined by it’s role in Houston’s global importance to space exploration with the location of NASA’s Johnson Space Center.   Therefore. “Space City” was chosen as most fitting chapter name from the start!

In April 2015, the NCL, Inc., Space City Chapter officially chartered with our membership numbers tripling in that two-year span, with thousands of volunteer hours given by mothers and daughters. We are a unique chapter, grounded in diversity not only by welcoming our membership from four different area school districts, but also by cultivating and encouraging our mothers and daughters to broaden their friendships and experiences.

Throughout this time and for many years to come, our chapter members are actively living the NCL, Inc. Experience which changes lives by inspiring and empowering women to succeed as confident, well-rounded and socially aware contributors in our area’s communities.   This clear mission is our guide – to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences. We welcome those who would like to be a part of this amazing mother-daughter journey!
